Father’s Day 2025: Celebrate Dad, the local way

Father’s Day is Sunday, June 15th—a perfect opportunity to treat Dad to a day of local love right here in Novato. Whether he’s into bikes, breakfast, beer, or BBQ, Novato’s small businesses have you covered with thoughtful gifts, memorable experiences, and family-friendly fun.

Start with Breakfast

Kick off Father’s Day with a hearty breakfast at Creekside Bakery, a longtime local favorite and family bakery serving amazing dishes and coffee since 1983. From their classic menu items like the breakfast sandwich to unique menu specials like the roasted pork belly waffles, the menu hits the spot and sets the tone for a day of good eats and quality time.

Get Outdoors Together

Soak up the sunshine with a hike at Mount Burdell. With trails for all levels and panoramic Bay views, it’s a peaceful place to connect with nature (and Dad) without straying far from town. After your hike, refuel with a drink or bite to eat at Trailhead Cafe, located at the base of Mount Burdell.

Afternoon Adventures

If your dad’s the adventurous type, stop by Sports Basement to gear him up for his next camping, hiking, or paddleboarding trip. Or book one of their curated outdoor experiences for a future trip with your Dad.

Cycling dads? Head to Old Town Sports for gear, repairs, or accessories—or visit Bicycle Brüstop where you can shop bikes and sip craft beer in the same stop.

Shop for a Thoughtful Gift

We know it can be hard to nail down the perfect gift for the Dads who do it all. If you’re still looking for a gift, Novato’s small businesses make it easy.

  • Pini Ace Hardware: Grilling gear, tools, and backyard upgrades.
  • BeerCraft: Finding unique brews you won’t find anywhere else, make Dad a custom 4-pack.
  • Watts Music: Vintage vinyl, classic CDs, and posters of Dad’s favorite bands make a great gift.
  • Celine’s Sweets: A retro candy shop selling candies, both old-time and new, gourmet chocolates and truffles, perfect for the Dad with a sweet tooth.
  • Marin Coffee Roasters: Purchase local coffee beans for the Dad who always enjoys a good cup of joe. Owner Tim Mock learned the trade from mentor Sal Bonavita, former owner of Peet’s Coffee.
  • Matt & Jeff’s Car Wash: A gift card for a shiny, clean ride.

Dinner and Live Music

Wrap up the day with burgers, pizza’s and cocktails at Finnegan’s Marin, where you can relax on the outdoor patio and enjoy live music into the evening. Tim O’Neil will be playing live music starting at 5:30pm, and kids eat free on Sundays at Finnegan’s!

However you celebrate, show your appreciation for Dad—and for Novato—by shopping and supporting local. Happy Father’s Day!
