Downtown Novato has a delightful new destination for art lovers. Changing Seasons, opened by Ingrid Martinez in October, is a charming shop that showcases the incredible talent of local artists through a carefully curated collection of unique art pieces and home decor. True to its name, the shop’s inventory beautifully evolves with the changing seasons.
Ingrid is no stranger to entrepreneurship and community involvement. A long-time Novato resident, she previously owned a shop in the Sonoma Square and served as the Director of the Marin Opera Company, even performing at the Marin Veteran’s Memorial Theater. Her diverse background has cultivated a deep appreciation for art, local businesses, and most importantly, people.
“What I have learned that I really like is being with other people,” Ingrid said. “I love that people come in here, all kinds of people, and I get to chat with them. I’ve got an extra chair next to my desk at the shop for anyone who wants to come and chat.”
What sets Changing Seasons apart is Ingrid’s genuine passion for connecting with her community. “I love that people from all walks of life come in, and we get to chat,” she shares, pointing to an inviting chair next to her desk. Her shop isn’t just a retail space—it’s a warm, welcoming environment that celebrates local creativity.
“I really think that local artists should have a venue,” Ingrid said. “And I think that I can give them a place to put different kinds of art out there.”
The shop features an impressive array of artistic mediums, from woodworking and photography to oil paintings and beyond. Ingrid carefully selects pieces from talented local artists like Laura Culver, Eyvind Earle, George Sumner, Rich Lee, Dr. Jim Codington, James and Susan Gowdy, and Jeff Lewis. Her commitment to supporting local talent shines through in every carefully chosen piece.
Located at 804 Grant Avenue, Changing Seasons is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:30am to 5:00pm. This holiday season and beyond, stop by to explore unique local art, enjoy a friendly conversation, and support one of Novato’s newest and most inspiring businesses.
