Enjoy the Luck O’ Ireland in Novato this St. Patrick’s Day

St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated in more countries around the world than any other single-day national festival! This year, St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Friday, and we can’t think of a better way to kick off the weekend.

Every March 17th, plenty of people of all ethnicities pull something green from their wardrobe and join in the St. Paddy’s Day fun. Whether you’re dressing in emerald hues, raising a toast with a traditional libation, or putting some Irish cuisine on the menu, St. Patrick’s Day offers a feast of opportunities to participate. And Novato has some of the North Bay’s best options when it comes to observing this traditional celebration of Irish culture and the namesake patron saint of Ireland.

A local favorite that will also be celebrating the luck of the Irish is Moylan’s Brewery and Restaurant. Enjoy a nitrogen-infused Dragoon’s Irish dry stout served fresh on tap or one of their many other fabulous Irish brews! From Irish dancers, corned beef and cabbage, Moylan’s party will be flowing from 11:30 am to 10 pm!

St. Patrick’s Day is the perfect time to visit an Irish pub, and Novato has one of the best you’ll find, located in Downtown Novato: Finnegan’s Marin. On Friday, Finnegan’s will open at 10 a.m., pouring plenty of Guinness on tap, Irish cuisine featuring corned beef and cabbage, shepherd’s pie, Guinness beef stew, along with fish and chips.

Another downtown hot spot that’s partaking in the fun is Indian Valley Brewing, serving up green beer galore and food by Taquizas Los Cuñados who’ll be putting an Irish twist on their regular menu items.

From 7-10pm, Trek Winery will host a music performance by Doc Kraft Dance Band. The band who plays it all; Cajun-Zydeco, Country-Bluegrass, Disco, R&B, Slow Jams, Funk, Oldies, Doo-Wop, and many other jams, they’re sure to get your soul dancing.

Interested in working off all those Irish-inspired indulgences? Stick on something green and join Novato High School in their family-friendly fundraiser by participating in the Novato 2023 Lucky Run or Walk 5K/10K on Sunday, March 19. Fancy taking part but in need of some running shoes? See the selections at either Sports Basement or DSW. All the proceeds of the fundraiser will be going to Safe & Sober Grad of Novato and every sign up gets a free t-shirt!

Whether you boast Irish roots or merely feel a connection to the culture, don’t miss out on celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in Novato! Ireland may be miles away yet delicious food, spirited drinks and more can all be experienced in Novato.
