Get Creative with the Arts in 2019

The new year brings new opportunities, including new ways to get self-expressive. Novato is home to the Marin Museum of Contemporary Art, where you can enjoy inspiring exhibitions and and even take an art class or two. The Marin MOCA’s recently announced Spring art class schedule includes a four week class on painting the elements, a portrait and figure painting class, drop in workshops for clay modeling and more. Check out the complete schedule of art classes at the MOCA and see if inspiration strikes.

Elsewhere in Novato, you can explore your artistic inclinations at Studio 4 Art on Grant Avenue. There, you can sign up for pottery, clay and ceramics workshops, or schedule an art party, where the fun of a party comes with the freedom to create. You can also pick up art supplies at nearby Art Zorro, also on Grant, to plan your own at-home workshop. Owner Tracie Lirette is a local artist who loves to encourage creativity, so expect a warm welcome from this proud-to-be-local business. Not sure where to start? Ask Tracie for advice!

If your ideal artistic adventure involves a glass of wine, good company and some friendly artistic tutoring, Paint Nite has you covered at Trek Winery. Check out upcoming events for a glimpse of the kind of paintings you could be creating. Materials are supplied and the atmosphere is fun, friendly and inclusive. Midweek nights-out don’t get much better than this. You’ll also find similar sip and paint events scheduled at the Mantra Wines tasting room on Grant Avenue, where local artist Jan Morris will teach you how to paint your glassware with beautiful California poppies. Check out Mantra’s event calendar for upcoming dates.

Whether you’re enjoying wine and art with friends or visiting an exhibition at the MOCA, we hope you’ll find creative sparks in the world around you. As always, Novato businesses are here to help.
