Stay Cool, Stay Local on National Ice Cream Day

Summer is upon us, and you know what that means … it’s time for ice cream! According to the National Frozen & Refrigerated Foods Association, the average American eats 48 pints of ice cream per year — that’s more than any other country! And we suspect that Novato residents are no exception.

Whether you prefer creamy french vanilla ice cream or bright raspberry sorbet, don’t forget to indulge in your favorite frozen treat this Sunday, July 19, in honor of National Ice Cream Day. Novato has no shortage of delicious ice cream and frozen treat shops for your enjoyment!

It doesn’t get more classic than Celine’s Sweets on Grant Avenue. Open on Sunday from 12pm-7pm, Celine’s Sweets will be serving cups or cones, sundaes, shakes, malts, and even floats! Come enjoy the old-time, old-fashioned atmosphere in this fairy-tale ice cream and candy shop.

Also on Grant Avenue, you can find the original La Michoacana Natural Ice Cream, home to 28 flavors of fruit paletas and other home-style, traditional Mexican treats. This family-run business is a truly special place.

For you frozen yogurt lovers out there, Tuttimelon on Vintage Way has you covered — with gelato, frozen yogurt, sorbets, twisters, and granitas. Make your own creation, or give their “Ultimate Cookies and Cream” a try!

Stay cool, Novato, and we hope you’ll think local on National Ice Cream Day!
