Halloween in Novato is not one to miss! As streets become lined with pumpkins and Pumpkin Spice Lattes are poured, you know it’s time to prepare for the spookiest day of the year. While Halloween does land on a Monday this year, do not fear! There’s still plenty of haunted fun to cheer about, throughout the weekend.

For those over 21, HopMonk Novato is hosting their annual Halloween Bash on Friday, October 28. Starting at 8pm, the evening will include a live performance by band Mustache Harbor, a group of musicians brought together by their love for vintage soft rock and – you guessed it – sweet stashes. In addition to perfect party tunes,  HopMonk will be serving up award-winning food and drinks.

If you’re looking for a costume contest, hit up Adobe Creek Brewery’s Halloween Party located in Hamilton on Saturday from 12-9pm! Sip on local brews in your wicked costumes while jamming out to DJ Rich Factor and munching on mouth-watering lobster rolls from Cousins Maine Lobster.

Seeking out spooky, family-friendly events? Head to Novato’s Safe Trick-or-Treat Downtown on Grant Ave. From 11am-2pm you can bring your little ghouls, goblins, fairies, and witches to visit the retailers of the Downtown Business Association for sweet treats.

Trunk or Treat at The Quest in Novato is another fantastic family event. Sunday, October 29 from 11am-1pm enjoy an interactive Halloween safe experience. There will be free hot dogs, candy galore, and a bouncy house for kids to let go of their sugar high before you head home.

Now that your calendar is full of spooky adventures, it’s time to get your costume ready. Find ready-to-go costumes at Target and Costco, both in Vintage Oaks. Five Little Monkeys on Grant carries fun costumes for kids year-round. Or head to Goodwill and Hospice Hodgepodge, both have less expensive options that are sure to check that final piece off your list. 

For festive decorations, start with your jack-o-lantern. Pumpkin carving necessities can be found at Pini Hardware, Safeway, Whole Foods or Trader Joes. Each will have pumpkins of all shapes and sizes along with carving kits so every member of your family can create their own masterpiece. Want to up your spooky season decor game? Now for the most important piece. Finally, what’s Halloween without plenty of candy? Head to Celine’s Sweets on Grant Ave to make sure you’re properly stocked with sweets for the little goblins that will be visiting your door.
