Spring is coming, and this year it’s bringing a rush of sugar to Downtown Novato with the opening of Wicked Slush Novato, a culinary celebration of Boston street food, from hot dogs and meatball subs to authentic frozen treats, designed to get East Coast transplants salivating.
Wicked Slush Novato is the latest locally-owned business to join Novato’s roster of fun, foodie destinations. Owner Katrina Kraft was born and raised in Novato and said she has big plans in store for the opening of Wicked Slush.
“We want to create an environment where the entire family can go to hang out and have fun,” Kraft said. “Specifically the kids, Novato kids need a fun place to hang out where their parents can know they’re safe.”
The new location joins the Wicked Slush franchise family founded by Bostonian slush mastermind Amy Colvin, who opened the first Wicked Slush in Healdsburg. With a new Novato location spreading the word about Slush, the North Bay is starting to look like the second home of this iconic frozen favorite.
It’s not a sno-cone. It’s not shaved ice. It’s not a slurpee. If you’re from the East Coast, you may call it Italian Ice or Water Ice. But in Amy’s beloved city, they call it Slush. The refreshing concoction is like a “ball of freshly fallen snow,” their website claims.
And how is this creamy and dreamy product made?
“It’s all made in-house by our Slush makers,” Kraft said. “We start with a liquid, then we freeze it up until it’s the perfect consistency. Slush is gluten-free, there’s sugar-free options for all our flavors, and we’ll have oat milk available so customers can have their Slush dairy-free too.”
There’s a wide variety of Slush flavors from Watermelon and Mango to Cotton Candy and Rootbeer. Kraft said customers can expect a rotating selection of 40 to 50 different flavors of Slush and soft serve ice cream.
Decisions can be hard, like choosing to get soft serve ice cream or a slush. Thankfully, Wicked Slush understands that. If you can’t pick, order “The Split” and get the best of both worlds: a cup of half soft serve, half Slush.
When it comes to the toppings, let your creativity run wild. From classic rainbow and chocolate sprinkles to brownie bites, strawberry boba, and even your favorite childhood cereal like Fruity Pebbles.
Get your soft serve or slush dipped in chocolate (or any of their 6 dips) for a crispy, crunchy shell. Dress up your dessert with a drizzle of peanut butter or caramel. Add an ooey, gooey center to your order by asking for it Volcano style. Or try the Waffogato, a waffle bowl with a chocolate dip base, soft serve or Slush, chocolate drizzle, complete with an espresso shot poured on top. Whatever your sweet tooth desires, you’re sure to find it at Wicked Slush.
Katrina said Wicked Slush is set to open this Spring at 7400 Redwood Blvd #101, Novato, CA 94945. She only has one request from the community, “don’t be afraid to suggest an idea, or ask us to create a new flavor. We’re here to make people happy.”
