Like a rainbow promising of a pot of gold on the horizon, St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner. Every March 17th, plenty of people of all ethnicities pull something green from the wardrobe and join in the St. Paddy’s Day fun. Whether you’re dressing in emerald hues, raising a toast with a traditional libation, or putting some Irish cuisine on the menu, St. Patrick’s Day offers a feast of opportunities to participate. And Novato has some of the North Bay’s best options when it comes to observing this traditional celebration of Irish culture and the namesake patron saint of Ireland.
St. Patrick’s Day is the perfect time to visit an Irish pub, and Novato has one of the best you’ll find, in Finnegan’s Marin. This year, Finn’s is promising a fun-packed experience with plenty of Guinness on tap, Irish cuisine featuring corned beef and cabbage, shepherd’s pie, Guinness beef stew, along with fish and chips. In the evening, catch a performance by MacIntosh Pipe Band, bagpipers guaranteed!
Another downtown restaurant that’s partaking in the fun is Jerrys Downtown BBQ. Jerrys will host a music performance by Ship of Fools, with Irish dancers and bagpipers, green beer, and traditional Irish cuisine.
A local favorite that will also be celebrating the luck of the Irish is Moylan’s Brewery and Restaurant. Enjoy a nitrogen-infused Dragoon’s Irish dry stout served fresh on tap or one of their many other fabulous Irish brews!
Interested in working off all those Irish-inspired indulgences? Stick on something green and join Novato High School in their family-friendly fundraiser by participating in the Novato 2022 Lucky Run or Walk 5K/10K on Sunday, March 20. Fancy taking part but in need of some running shoes? See the selections at either DSW or Nordstrom Rack. All the proceeds of the fundraiser will be going to Safe & Sober Grad of Novato and every sign up gets a free t-shirt!
Whether you have some Irish in your family tree or just feel Irish at heart, don’t miss a chance to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Novato. Ireland may be a long way away, but the food, drinks and ‘the craic’ can be found right here in Novato.
