With Novato residents observing social distancing and staying home as much as possible, Easter Sunday is going to feel a little different this year. We’re going to miss some of our favorite Easter brunch buffets, and our extended family get-togethers are likely to become virtual affairs. But these challenging times are also an opportunity to start new family traditions, and to appreciate the moments that do bring us together, virtually.
As food outlets like Safeway remain open, it’s still possible to seek out eggs and other candy treats for the kids, and pick up items for a homemade Easter brunch. Good Housekeeping has some Easter brunch recipes that they promise keep things easy for home chefs.
Another Easter eats option is ordering an entire family dinner from our friends at Finnegan’s Marin, who can cook you up a honeybaked ham with all the trimmings. Finnegan’s is also offering house-batched cocktails to go. For these and other take out food options, check out the Finnegan’s Facebook page, and if you’re considering Easter family dinner, get your order in on time!
Other Novato businesses offering takeout or delivery services include the magnificent Mantra Wines, that will deliver locally, Trek Winery, which is accepting text orders for delivery on (415) 858-4750, Flour Chylde Bakery, which offers take-out and curbside pick up for cookies, cakes and bread, and Teeny Cake, that will make free deliveries around Novato and have a cookie decorating kit for $25 that is sure to delight any kids this Easter (and cookie loving adults too). Another sweet treat opportunity is a special pop-up Easter candy store from our friends at Celine’s Sweets, who can be found at Tommy’s Salsa, adding candy to the take-out options available there.
If you have kids at home who are a bit of a handful, enjoy a brief break by signing the kids up for Virtual Storytime courtesy of the City of Novato’s Parks and Rec department. The next virtual event takes place on Saturday the 11th at 10:30 am.
Elsewhere in Novato, hardware stores remain open too, and there are plenty of Easter decorations to be had at Pini Ace Hardware. If you’re going to be home for a while, it never hurts to brighten things up, and you can always pick up supplies for that home improvement project you’ve been putting off.
We hope you have a good Easter, even in challenging times. And we share our appreciation for the Novato businesses who are open for essential services. We hope you’ll keep them in mind and show your support when you can.
